It Will Happen To You Too
A performance piece for 5 performers and 1 speaker. | 2018
"It Will Happen to You Too" is a stage work that grapples with the tension between the inevitable fragility of human existence and the ongoing attempts to evade it. The performers engage in a surreal, and at times humorous, dance with the looming presence of death, portrayed as a persistent, multi-faceted messenger at the door. Through dense dialogues contrasted with mundane, obscure visual moments, voice, and movement, they reflect on the collapse of inner worlds, the melting of icebergs versus the disintegration of cells in the body, and the tremors of unstable earth beneath their feet.
Within this constantly shifting space, the performers search for order—attempting to create stability amidst uncertainty. Through imagery of starlings in flight and the steady drip of a single drop into a metal can, the work places fleeting moments of beauty alongside an unavoidable reminder of the passage of time. The result is a performance that evokes both awe and discomfort, inviting the audience to sit with uneasy feelings, to embrace the transient nature of existence, and to wait together for the next wave to pass.
